Once upon a time, far beyond the clouds of Earth and far below the shining gates of Heaven, lived the Sun and the Moon. Long before they became husband and wife, they lived very different lives. During peaceful ages, angels filled Heaven with laughter and games. In the warm season, they gently lifted the Moon and played heavenly soccer with her glowing silver body. During winter, when cold winds swept through the skies, they played with the Sun instead and enjoyed his golden warmth.

Though the games were playful, the Sun and Moon never felt insulted. They enjoyed bringing joy and spending time among the angels. But peace in Heaven did not last forever. One day, disagreement and pride divided the angels and demons. The two groups separated, and sorrow spread across the heavens.

The games ended, and no longer did laughter echo through the skies. The Moon drifted quietly through space, lonely and forgotten. The Sun felt the same sadness. Their sorrow did not come from being kicked or tossed during games, but from feeling that they no longer served any purpose or belonged anywhere. Their loneliness slowly drew them together.

They spent long ages speaking with one another, sharing memories and comforting each other. Gradually, friendship blossomed into love, and one day they carried a wish deep within their hearts. They asked the great Universe to bring their request before God. The Universe traveled across Heaven and respectfully delivered their message. God listened kindly and blessed their union.

“May your love shine brightly,” he said. “May you have many children and protect creation with warmth and coolness.”
His blessing echoed across Heaven and reached even the distant fires of Hell. The demons trembled with worry. Since Hell had become their home, they feared that God’s blessing might somehow change their fate or drive them away from the only place they knew. If that happened, they believed they would become wanderers with nowhere to belong.

After blessing the marriage, God returned to Heaven. Soon afterward, the leader of the demons journeyed into space to visit the newly married Sun and Moon. Among demons, he alone possessed the mysterious ninth sense, which allowed him to sense dangers and changes before others could. He bowed respectfully. Though he had fallen from Heaven long ago, he still remembered its light.

“I have come to wish you happiness,” the demon leader said. “But I also ask one favor. Please share your light with us at least once each month. It gives my people strength to continue our existence.”
The Sun looked upon him with compassion while the Moon listened quietly beside him. “We remember that demons were once angels,” the Sun replied gently.

“You are still part of God’s creation. We will not envy you or refuse kindness.”
The Moon nodded in agreement. The demon leader thanked them and returned to Hell. Yet although kindness had been shown to him, dark thoughts still lingered in his heart. Even so, he carried hopeful news home.

“We may receive sunlight and moonlight each month,” he told his followers. The demons cheered loudly like buzzing flies celebrating good fortune. Years passed peacefully. The Moon gave birth to eight children. At first, they were small, but even as babies they were enormous—each nearly the size of a thousand Empire State Buildings joined together.

Over centuries, they grew into the mighty planets we know today: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The Sun and Moon loved all their children dearly. They guided them gently through space and watched over them with pride. Among the children, however, Earth often needed special care. Later, God created humans, animals, forests, rivers, and oceans upon Earth so that life might flourish and humanity could learn kindness, wisdom, and gratitude.

The Sun warmed Earth each day while the Moon cooled and comforted it each night. Earth overflowed with life and constant activity. Yet life upon Earth was not always peaceful. Many people filled the world with garbage, greed, scams, and unkindness. Still, because of children’s kindness and the goodness of righteous people, God held onto hope that humanity might someday fulfill His purpose.

The Sun and Moon worked hard to protect Earth, and without meaning to, they spent less time with their other children. At first the planets stayed silent, but silence often hides sadness. Mercury felt overlooked. Neptune missed hearing his mother’s gentle voice, and Saturn watched Earth receiving so much warmth and wondered if he had done something wrong. Though the planets loved their parents dearly, loneliness slowly settled into their hearts.

One day, Mercury sent a message across space. “Brothers and sisters,” he said, “Earth receives most of Mom and Dad’s attention. Are we not their children too?”
The planets gathered to discuss their feelings. Many agreed, though none wished to hurt their parents. Mercury soon grew nervous.

“If Father becomes too sad,” he worried, “I might melt from his heat. I do not want to upset him.”
Neptune spoke softly. “Perhaps we should pray to God.”
Mars shook his red head. “What if God thinks we are complaining?” he asked. “Maybe we should ask the Universe to speak for us instead.”
The planets agreed with Mars.

So he called across the stars. “Universe! Can you hear us?”
Soon all the planets joined him. “Universe! Please hear us!

Are we not loved too?”
At last, the great Universe answered with a gentle rumble. “My little planets, I hear your voices.”
The Universe carried their sorrow before God. “My Lord,” it said, “the planets feel lonely. They believe the Sun and Moon spend too much time caring for Earth.”
God nodded kindly. “I understand,” He said.

“Let me speak with them.”
So God called to the Sun and Moon. “My dear Sun and Moon,” He asked gently, “why do your other children feel forgotten?”
The Sun held back tears while the Moon lowered her silver face sadly. “My Lord,” the Sun answered, “Earth overflows with life. Humans and animals depend upon my warmth and the Moon’s gentle light. If we leave Earth completely, life there may suffer.”
“We never meant to neglect our other children,” the Moon whispered softly.

God smiled with understanding. “I know your hearts,” He said kindly. “But love should not leave any child feeling alone.”
Then He stretched out His hand. “From this day onward, I shall strengthen the Sun’s warmth and the Moon’s cool light. Even while you visit your other children, Earth will continue receiving what it needs.”
The planets brightened with relief.

Mercury spun with excitement while Neptune glowed softly. Saturn no longer felt forgotten, and the Moon spread her silver light around them like a loving embrace. “We missed you, Mother!” the planets cried joyfully. The Sun laughed warmly. “From now on,” he promised, “we shall share our light with all of you, not only Earth.”
Still curious, the planets gathered closer.

“Why do humans and animals live only on Earth?” they asked. The Moon smiled gently. “Be patient, my dear children. Humans are already trying to visit Mars. One day they may learn to live on many worlds.

God gave them clever minds and curious hearts.”
Mars leaped with excitement. “Hooray!” he shouted. “Perhaps I shall become the next home for humans!”
The planets gathered around him, laughing and cheering together. Far away, even the demon leader watched quietly as sunlight and moonlight touched distant places just as promised. For a brief moment, he remembered the kindness once known in Heaven and wondered whether bitterness truly brought happiness.

Then the planets thanked God and the Universe, returned to their shining paths, and rested peacefully among the stars. From that day onward, the Sun and Moon tried their best to love all their children equally, while Earth continued glowing as a reminder that caring for one child should never mean forgetting the others.
